25 Countries in 25 Years

On the back of my last post, My 25 Best Travel Moments, I wanted to write about one of the personal goals that I’ve had for a while now: to visit 25 countries before my 25th birthday. I’ve currently visited 21 and my birthday is on the 27th December. So whilst that sounds like a lot to do in a short amount of time, I think it’s totally possible. Especially with the ridiculously cheap prices I’ve seen around Europe lately- I can visit two or three countries for less than Β£30. Crazy.

Next on my list is Germany and possibly Belgium. I’d like to be in the 25th country on my actual birthday but we will see how that pans out as I’m forever changing my plans. These are the countries and cities/towns I have been to so far and when I first visited:

  1. Scotland Home (Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr, Stirling, St. Andrews, Dunfermline, Arbroath, Newport, Tayport, Pitlochry, Fort William, Montrose, Laurencekirk, Cupar, Blairgowrie)
  2. Spain October 1999 (Salou, Barcelona)
  3. England June 2006 (Blackpool, Fleetwood, Berwick, Liverpool, Manchester, London, Brighton)
  4. The Netherlands December 2006 (Amsterdam)
  5. Turkey October 2009 (Marmaris)
  6. Greece July 2011 (Rhodes)
  7. Thailand April 2012 (Bangkok, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Koh Sok, Phuket, Phi Phi)
  8. France November 2012 (Paris)
  9. United Arab Emirates June 2013 (Dubai)
  10. Cambodia June 2013 (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap)
  11. Singapore July 2013
  12. Indonesia July 2013 (Bali)
  13. Australia July 2013 (Sydney)
  14. Fiji August 2013 (Around Viti Levu)
  15. United States of America August 2013 (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Orange County, Las Vegas, Richmond, New York, Miami, Orlando, Key West)
  16. Iceland August 2013 (Reykjavik)
  17. Northern Ireland March 2015 (Belfast, Portadown, Portrush)
  18. Ghana May 2015 (Accra, Teshie)
  19. Canada June 2016 (Vancouver, Richmond, Victoria, Calgary, Whistler, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Charette)
  20. Mexico June 2016 (Cancun, Tulum, Playa Del Carmen)
  21. Jamaica June 2017 (Montego Bay, Kingston)

Let me know what your favourite country is so I can add it to my list of places to go! πŸ˜‰

  1. Great plan, Chloe, make it happen! I second Leuven in Belgium, a beautiful and lively city, I worked a project there for 2 years. And then obviously I volunteer Nuremberg. Lot’s of history, good and bad. And the world famous Christmas market. If you need a tour guide I volunteer as well πŸ˜‰ ! You could continue south to Switzerland (Zurich), Vienna (Austria) and Prague (Czech Republic). All those cities are connected by trains or bus (or plane). Enjoy planning πŸ™‚ !! Marcus
